Dr. Lam was born in Venezuela and immigrated to the small state of Rhode Island at a young age. He attended Brown University in colonial Providence, where he studied computer science. He stayed at Brown's Alpert Medical School, where he received his degree in medicine and masters in medical sciences. He decided that after more than two decades in the east coast, it was time to move on to greener pastures. He moved to sunny California, where he trained at Stanford for internal medicine residency.
